Throughout the year, each congregation has its own worship service but we come together periodically for some special services.
Anniversary Service. Anniversaries are always a good time to celebrate, and we support each other’s special Sunday. In other words, when Spencerville celebrates its anniversary, the service time is changed to 11:00 a.m., and Prescott cancels its service so people can join Spencervillee in the celebration. (Vice versa when it’s Prescott’s anniversary).
Annual Meeting. The annual meeting follows Sunday worship. When it’s time for Spencerville’s Annual Meeting, worship time is switched that Sunday: Prescott’s service is at 9:15 a.m., and Spencerville’s at 11:00, with the Annual Meeting following.
Christmas Eve. The Christmas Eve service is always held in Spencerville at 7:00 p.m.
Communion Services. This is the one special service where we celebrate individually. There are 4 or 5 communion services throughout the year:
– World Communion Sunday (first Sunday in October);
– during Advent/Christmas;
– in January or February;
– during Lent/Easter; and
– during the summer.
Easter. A special “sunrise” Easter service is held at St. Andrew’s-Knox, Spencerville, and followed by a pancake breakfast. Then everyone heads over to St. Andrew’s, Prescott for its Easter service.
Good Friday. A special Good Friday service is held at St. Andrew’s, Prescott.
Labour Day. Labour Day weekend is special – and services at both churches are cancelled.
Remembrance Day. Depending on where and when special Remembrance Day activities are planned in the respective communities, Sunday services might be cancelled. For example, in 2018, Spencerville services are cancelled; Prescott service will still be held.
